Hiking on the Niederhorn
Would you like to discover the Niederhorn on a hike?
On this hike, we go up to the summit of the Gemmenalphorn and then along the ridge to the Niederhorn, passing through meadows, forests and then above the tree line.
The summit offers an extraordinary view of Lake Thun on one side and the Hohgant on the other.
This event is led by Yorick Brunet, mountain leader.
What's the plan?
We will meet at Interlaken West at 07:55. The descent from the Niederhorn and the return to the meeting point will be by funicular/bus. Depending on the time, it is also possible to replace the bus journey with a boat trip between Beatenbucht and Interlaken West.
The path is a little narrow in places, so you need to be able to walk comfortably to explore these paths.
Technical Information
This is a demanding mountain hike, ~ 10 km and ~ 1200 m of ascent.
Requirements
To join this event, you must be a fit hiker and familiar with small trails both downhill and uphill. This hike is not recommended for people suffering from vertigo.
Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
How to get there
If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you take the following:
- Zurich HB 06:02- 07:51 Interlaken West
- Interlaken West 16:05- 17:58 Zurich HB - depending on the time the event finishes
Must have:
- Hiking shoes
- Small backpack with waterproof cover
- Fleece
- Down jacket
- Waterproof jacket
- Hiking trousers
- Hat
- Gloves
- Sunglasses
- Water
- Packed lunch
Nice to have:
- Snacks
The price for this event is CHF 85 per person.
A 10% non-refundable deposit is due upon booking. We will then contact you and send you the details for the payment of the balance.
