Guided T4 Hike to Zurich’s Nearest 2000m Peak: Diethelm 2098m + Turner 2068m
Hike Zurich's nearest 2000 meter peak!
The Fluebrig massif, located at the end of the Druesberg ridge, has a prominent, forward position that makes it visible from far and wide between the Sihl Valley and the Wägital.
The Fluebrig consists of 4 summits, and on that day we will ascend two of them: Diethelm (2098m) and Turner (2068m).
Diethelm, in the middle of the Fluebrig massif, is the closest 2000 meter mountain to Zurich (only 43 km!).
We meet at Studen SZ, Ochsenboden at 09:30 and start our hike from there after a short briefing.
From Ochsenboden, the route begins with a steady climb through forest and pastures, gradually gaining height on mountain trails. As the landscape opens up, the path zigzags towards the Fluebrig massif, where the adventure becomes more alpine. The final ascent to Diethelm, the highest summit of Fluebrig and Zurich's closest 2,000 m peak, includes a section with fixed cables and a metal ladder before continuing along a rugged ridge to the summit.
After taking in spectacular panoramic views, we continue towards to next ridge that takes us to the summit of Turner.
After our two summits and a well deserved break with gorgeous views of Sihlsee, Zürichsee and Wägitalersee, the route descends through alpine meadows and across Fläschlipass, returning to Studen.
A fantastic day hike for fit hikers looking to experience a mix of accessible mountain trails and a taste of easy alpine scrambling.
