Guided Snowshoeing Weekend in Sankt Antönien (Graubünden)

Saturday - Carschinafurggla 2220m

We meet at St. Antönien, Rüti at 10:20. From there we hike up to Carschinahütte and the Carschinafurggla pass at 2220m. We then make a loop at the foot of the beautiful Sulzfluh mountain to end our hike at Berghaus Sulzfluh, a charming lodge with sauna and hot tub where we have dinner and spend the night.

Sunday - Eggberg 2200m

After an energising breakfast, we start the hike with a short descent before climbing all the way up to the top of Eggberg at 2200m. On the way down, we hike back directly to St. Antönien, Rüti where you can take the bus back.

Requirements

To join this event, you need to be a fit hiker. No previous snowshoeing experience is needed.

If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you the following:

• Saturday: Zurich HB 08:07 - 10:16 St. Antönien, Rüti (via Landquart & Küblis)
• Sunday: St. Antönien, Rüti 14:43 - 16:53 Zurich HB (via Küblis & Landquart) - depending on the time the event finishes

If you are traveling by car, you can park at St-Antönien, Rüti.

The price for parking is CHF 22 for 2 days.

What you need to bring

Day clothing essentials:

• Winter hiking boots
• Base layers

• Hiking backpack (30-40L)

F&B:

• Water
• Thermal bottle for tea

Equipment rental

You have the possibility to rent the following equipment, directly from the guide:

• Snowshoes and poles: CHF 30
• Avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe: CHF 50

You will receive an email with a form to fill in a few days before the event, where you can inform us about which items you’d like to rent. These can be paid by cash or Twint on the event day.

The price for this event is CHF 300 in a shared room (5 bed-room), CHF 325 in a mini single room (only 1 available), or CHF 350 in a twin room (shared with another participant).

• 2 days of guided snowshoeing with an international mountain leader, in a small group
• Basic avalanche training to make sure everyone knows how to use the equipment

Insurance

It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
