Guided 2-day T4 Hike to Rottalhütte

What's the plan?

We’ll meet at Stechelberg, Post at 10:00 on Saturday. After a short briefing, we begin our challenging ascent, climbing 1’800 meters to reach the Rottalhütte, nestled at the edge of the Rottal Glacier and at the base of the majestic Jungfrau.

With just 28 beds, the Rottalhütte offers an intimate alpine experience. Enjoy a hearty dinner, a cozy overnight stay, a nourishing breakfast, and some take-away tea to fuel the descent.

On Sunday, we’ll make our way back down into the breathtaking Lauterbrunnen Valley, famous for its sheer cliffs and 72 cascading waterfalls - a perfect ending to a memorable weekend.

Technical information

• Saturday: 7km, 1’800m ascent
• Sunday: 7km, 1’800m descent

Requirements

Very good physical condition needed, used to hiking with up to 1'500 m of elevation gain. No fear of heights.

Insurance

It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).

If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you take the following:

• Zurich HB 07:02 - 09:49 Stechelberg, Post (via Bern, Interlaken Ost and Lauterbrunnen)
• Stechelberg, Post 16:06 - 18:58 Zurich HB (via Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken Ost and Bern) - depending on the time the event finishes

Pricing

The price for this event is CHF 350, or CHF 325 for SAC members.

• 2 hiking days, guided by an international mountain leader, in a small group
