Classic cross-country skiing lesson in Klosters - Beginners
Time to try out a new activity! Cross-country skiing is considered one of the healthiest sports. With a little bit of momentum and the use of the poles, almost all muscles of the body are evenly stressed. More than 75 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails in Davos Klosters provide boundless variety in a beautiful landscape.
In this 2-hour lesson, you will learn the basics of classic cross-country skiing.
This event is led by Otto van Andel, cross-country skiing instructor.
Meet Otto at Diethelmpromenade car park (5 min walk from the train station Klosters Platz) at 10:00. The course finishes around 12:00. After the course, you can stay on the cross-country skiing trail and practice the skills you’ve just learnt.
In this course, you will learn:
- Basic equipment handling and balance on skis
- Gliding and weight transfer on one ski
- How to move forward using the diagonal stride
- Coordinating arms and legs for smooth rhythm and efficiency
- Slowing down and stopping safely
- Getting up after a fall
- Turning and changing direction on flat terrain
- How to go slightly uphill and downhill using the skating technique
Requirements
No previous cross-country skiing experience needed.
If you are traveling from Zurich by public transport, we recommend you the following:

- If you bring your own equipment: ZurichHB 08:07 - 09:58 Klosters Platz (via Landquart)
If you are traveling by car, you can park at the meeting point directly (Diethelmpromenade car park).

Equipment rental
You have the possibility to rent the equipment (Nordic Set Classic) at INTERSPORT ANDRIST in Klosters, located between the train station and the meeting point. You can book it online in advance.
The price for this 2-hour lesson with a certified instructor is CHF 80.
This does not include the equipment rental.
Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
