2-day Multi Pitch Climbing Course
You’ve climbed a bit on single pitch routes but you’re seeing all these photos of climbers dangling hundreds of meters off the ground and rappelling off cliffs? You want to learn multi-pitch climbing and learn all the knots and rope techniques? With Ubaldo Montes de Oca Luna, certified climbing instructor, you will be able to improve your climbing technique and learn everything you need to start multi pitch routes.
Unlike lead climbing, which involves a single climber ascending one route, multi-pitch climbing involves several climbers traversing multiple routes on the way to their destination. It offers climbers the ability to cover longer distances and traverse more routes.
What's the plan?
Meet Ubaldo at a given location on Saturday morning (location will be shared a couple of days before, depending on the weather forecast, and will be within 2 hours from Zurich by public transport). You will make your way to the crag and spend the day lead climbing, improving your climbing technique and learning all the knots and rope techniques for multi-pitch climbing, on the ground and on an easy 2 to 3-pitch route.
Sunday is the application day! You will get the chance to do a long multi-pitch route all day and apply all the skills you will have learned on the previous day.
Accommodation will be booked once the location is determined.
Requirements
To join this event, you need to be able to climb 5A routes top rope and to belay a lead climber.
All pitches will be graded between 3 and 5A.
Insurance
It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).
How to get there
As soon as the final location is determined, we will communicate the recommended trains or car parking options.
Please be aware that, depending on weather conditions, the event location may be subject to change. The final location will be communicated to you a few days prior to the event. The chosen location will be reachable within 2 hours from Zurich via public transportation, ensuring an easy access for everyone.
