These climbing course series are led by Ubaldo Montes de Oca Luna, certified climbing instructor.

Course 1 - Introduction to Outdoor Climbing 1/3 - Top Rope Climbing

Discover the essentials of outdoor climbing, including equipment, safety procedures, communication, hand-foot climbing techniques, and interpreting guidebooks. In a group setting on single pitch routes, you'll immerse yourself in hands-on practice, maximizing learning, fun, and safety. This introductory course is an ideal starting point for your outdoor climbing journey.

Course 2 - Introduction to Outdoor Climbing 2/3 - Lead Climbing

Learn how to sport climb on real rock and the skills needed to keep you safe. Instruction covers lead climbing and belaying techniques, rope management, clipping quickdraws, anchor setting and clearing, equipment handling, and effective communication. This course will build the confidence and create a great foundation as a lead climber.

Course 3 - Introduction to Outdoor Climbing 3/3 - Alpine Rock Climbing

Put your freshly acquired skills from courses 1 & 2 to the test during a full rock climbing weekend. All your skills come together: lead climbing, belaying and anchor building in an alpine environment. Test yourself against the rock and achieve your climbing goals. Wrap up this climbing course series with an overnight stay and two full days of practice together. It's the perfect way to conclude your journey and solidify your skills in a fun environment!

What’s the plan?

Meet Ubaldo at the given location around 09:30. The morning session will focus on familiarizing yourself with equipment, understanding the fundamentals of outdoor climbing, and learning safety rules. In the afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to apply what you've learned by hitting the rocks and experiencing firsthand the thrill of outdoor rock climbing.

Requirements

Some previous climbing experience is recommended (indoor climbing or bouldering). However, if you are fit and keen to try outdoor climbing but have never climbed before, we are happy for you to join us.

Insurance

It is the participant's responsibility to get health and accident insurances that cover mountain rescue, including extreme sports. Becoming a Rega patron is highly recommended (CHF 40 per year only for emergency medical assistance from the air).

How to get there

As soon as the final location is determined, we will communicate the recommended trains or car parking options.

The final location will be communicated to you a few days prior to the event. The chosen location will be reachable within 2 hours from Zurich via public transportation, ensuring an easy access for everyone.
